Chronicle of Days Past - Lemon in My Chocolate

Jan. 24th, 2006 02:47 pm Lemon in My Chocolate

I actually didn't find out that much information at the activities fair.  Now I'm going to try going to things.

This seems as good a time as any to talk about British food.  It's not horribly different (drinks in litres, lemonade=lemon-lime, that sort of thing) but I don't know if I'll ever get used to seeing Aunt Bessie's Spotted Dick for sale.  Bread and cookies are generally too crunchy for my liking, and chocolate often comes in orange or hazelnut.  I still don't understand baked beans for breakfast nor the need to butter meat sandwiches.  Hopefully I'll have good shopping tomorrow and feel more secure food-wise.

I feel I should be more homesick.  Now that school has started, there's no doubt this is no vacation.  Maybe that helps, because I don't expect to see my family soon.  But I do normally see my family during the school year.  I really don't have a frame of reference for my life right now, except maybe the very beginning of college.

Replaying The Longest Journey reminds me how much I want the sequel.  Of its few faults, the game's ending doesn't wrap things up enough for me, thus the hungering for the sequel.  I've checked around the Internet, and it looks to be released sometime after March, and to be even better than The Longest Journey.  Oh, anticipation.  I shouldn't complain.  The game has been around for years, and I'm sure others have been waiting for much longer.

This is the kitchen. I took a few more pictures of it, but this should give you the general idea.

This is my room, kinda clean by my estimation. Note the tasteful pink-painted brick.

Really? Are you logged in? They might be friends-only. I don't know why else they wouldn't work.

I wasn't, which is why. For some reason LJ has randomly signed me off a few times, even though I never close the window and it's just supposed to stay logged in all the time.

I think it's done that to me a couple times too.

AH, the pink brickness. Its actually quite a nice change up from the white peely paint of the Rollins walls.

LOL...the view from your window, however, reminds me WAY too much of the mental Insititution my dad works at. With the exception of smaller windows that don't easily open.

You kitchen looks like my kitchen at home!

I like your room. And British food generally sounds peculiar. May I ask the dreaded question: what exactly is Aunt Bessie's Spotted Dick?

It's some kind of custardy-puddingy-thing, I think. Not my sort of thing. Spotted dick is the food; Aunt Bessie is the brand.

Yeah, all the rooms are singles.
